此前，微软曾宣布将在今年4月28日完成Vista SP2，但正如SP1一样，Vista SP2的完成日期也未能与正式发布的日期保持一致。不过，从4月30日开始，MSDN和TechNet的注册用户就已经可以下载到Vista SP2了。而现在，微软又放出了SP2 DVD镜像的下载。
微软在官方文档中称：“Windows Vista和Windows Server 2008 SP2将继续秉承微软对于质量的承诺。Vista SP2除了整合有此前单独发布的一些更新之外，也为用户带来了新功能和改进。”

Microsoft released Windows Vista Service Pack 2 to manufacturing on April 28, 2009. As was the case with Vista SP1, the RTM and General Availability dates failed to coincide. However, there are those lucky few that can already download and install the service pack 2 bits for Windows Vista. MSDN and TechNet subscribers got access to Vista SP2 RTM since April 30, and were also subsequently served the DVD ISO image for the second service pack for Vista.
